"I worked through each problem in Math Contests, Grades 7 & 8, Vol. 1, and they have been very good. However, the worked-out solutions in the back of the book can be more simple and intuitive. Most of the problems are pretty straightforward; there are few difficult ones, so it's beneficial to have a guide at hand. I've spotted a couple of errors in the answers:

#14 on 1981-1982 7th Grade Contest: It can't be C. 2 + 2 x 2 - 2 = 2 + 4 - 2 = 6 - 2 = 4. Therefore, it is A.

#33 on 1981-1982 8th Grade Contest: It can't be D. 6x^2 for the original cubical block. Then, twice as long makes it 6 * (2x)^2 = 6 * (4x^2) = 4 * (6x^2). Hence, it is 4 times as much paint as it takes to do the original cubical block. Therefore, it is B.
